Japanese utility Jera has taken the wraps off plans for a 600MW offshore wind farm off the city of Tsugaru, Aomori Prefecture.
The company believes the fixed-foundation Southern Tsugaru project could feature up to 63 turbines.
Unit of up to 15MW are planned with monopile, jacket or gravity-base foundations in the mix.
It has filed a Primary Environmental Impact Consideration document to the Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry.
The document summarises the results of deliberations concerning environmental conservation issues to be considered at the project planning stage.
People with opinions on the document from an environmental conservation standpoint are invited to submit them.
JERA said it will continue to move the project forward under the guidance of the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry and other related authorities, giving due consideration to the opinions of other stakeholders.
