A crew transfer vessel has been towed safely back to port after it hit an unknown object and began taking on water at the 140MW Kentish Flats 1&2 offshore wind farms off the UK coast.
Sheerness RNLI said it was called to the scene on 30 March when it received reports that the 21-metre CTV Tempest was in difficulty off Kent with two crew and four technicians on board.
The lifeboat crews transferred a pump on board the vessel when they arrived at the scene and along with assistance from the Whitstable Lifeboat managed to remove water from the Tempest.
“The craft was stuck fast on the unknown underwater object and with both lifeboats standing by the crews waited to see if it would come free once water had been pumped out, which it eventually did,” said the RNLI.
The CTV was “listing badly” but was towed to Whitstable. There are no reports of injuries.
