The Lithuanian Ministry of Energy is proposing a temporary halt to the ongoing offshore wind park tender in order to review the conditions of the offer.
The Ministry said it needs to ensure that the impact on the final prices of electricity paid by consumers is as low as possible after the tender is implemented.
A draft of the Government’s resolution providing for this has been prepared and submitted for institutional coordination.
Given that the tender has already been announced, in order to ensure that the review and assessment of the tender conditions is implemented as soon as possible, it is requested to submit conclusions on the draft Resolution as a matter of urgency within 3 working days from the publication of the draft Resolution, the Ministry said.
After the government makes a decision on the renewal of the tender procedures, the tender procedures would be restarted according to the terms and procedures set by the Law on Renewable Resources.
The developer selected through the tender process would develop a 700MW offshore wind farm in the Baltic Sea.
Bidders must submit applications and documents to VERT by 18 March 2025.
