LOC Renewables, a division of LOC Group, has completed its role as marine warranty surveyor on the 25MW Windfloat Atlantic floating wind project.
The project involved a single self-propelled modular transporter (SPMT) loadout and float-off for one floater in the port of Ferrol, Spain.
LOC then oversaw the integration of the project’s MHI Vestas 8.4MW turbines onto floaters in the port.
The consultancy also provided MWS services for the installation of the mooring systems, the sail away from Ferrol, arrival on site and hook-up to moorings and the installation of array cabling including pull-in of the dynamic riser.
The project spanned from 2019 to June 2020, with LOC working alongside Windplus S.A.
LOC Group renewables technical director Peter Croll said: “We are very pleased to have concluded our works on the Windfloat Atlantic project.
“Whilst this was a very challenging project, due to the deep-water location, it was a fascinating one to be involved in, and LOC’s role within the installation team contributed to the successful outcome.”
