Dutch heavy-lift outfit Mammoet has reached an agreement that will enable it to provide offshore wind services at the Port of Coeymans Marine Terminal, in New York.
The agreement with port owner Carver Companies allows Mammoet access to the port’s marine terminal facility, which is located along the Hudson River between New York City and Albany.
The new agreement enables Mammoet to offer various services, including storage, load in and load out, local barge supply, as well as offshore wind support in the east US region.
Mammoet’s 660-tonne capacity crawler crane is stationed on-site to provide heavy lift services inside the port facility, and auxiliary equipment for staging and storage is also available onsite.
Port of Coeymans’ sales and business development president Stephen Kelly said, “We’re happy to have a reputable company such as Mammoet as a tenant, increasing the Port of Coeymans’ credibility to be a premier project facility.”
The state of New York is ramping up for upcoming offshore wind projects in the area and is investing in upgrades to the Port of Coeymans’ facilities and infrastructure. Such projects will require offshore wind components to be manufactured and transported.
Over the years, Mammoet has developed a relationship with the Port of Coeymans while using the port during the execution of local infrastructure projects.
Carver Companies also owns port facilities in Charleston, South Carolina, Brayton Point, Massachusetts and Port Manatee, Florida, which provide similar collaborative possibilities.
