Mingyang has announced plans to develop a 50MW floating turbine that will feature a dual-rotor design.
The turbine would comprise two 25MW units on top of a Y-shaped tower similar to the rest of the Chinese OEM’s Ocean-X platform, for which a 16.6MW configuration was launched last year.

The new variant – launched at this week’s China Wind Power 2025 exhibition and conference in Beijing – would be more than twice the size of the 20MW Qihang prototype that was claimed to be the world’s largest floating turbine when installed by CRRC in Shandong, China, in January.
Mingyang said the “ultra-large” floating turbine would be mounted on a foundation that offered “proven typhoon resistance” to tap deep-sea wind resources.
