The Netherlands Enterprise Agency will announce the winner of a competitive tender for the rights to develop the up-to 760MW Hollandse Kust 3&4 wind farm soon.
The winning bidder of the subsidy-free auction will be announced at 17:00 GMT on Wednesday 10 July, the agency said.
A developer was due to be appointed by mid-June, but the window was extended to allow an expert panel of judges more time to assess bids in the so-called ‘beauty contest’ auction which opened in March this year.
Orsted, Vattenfall, Engie, and a consortium of Van Oord, Eneco and Shell, dubbed “Witwind”, are among the bidders for the site, which lies in waters between 25 and 30 metres deep.
Vattenfall has already announced it will use Siemens Gamesa 10MW turbines at the site if it is successful in its bid.
Orsted’s proposal for the site includes using energy generated offshore to produce hydrogen using electrolysis.
The site is due online in 2024.
