Contractor Aarsleff has completed installation of the first gravity-base jacket foundation at Siemens Gamesa’s 28MW Nissum Bredning demonstration project off Denmark.
The Danish company said foundation work is “progressing as planned”, with the concrete transition pieces (pictured) having been completed at its fabrication site in Swinoujscie.
The transition pieces were transported by barge and arrived at Thyborøn on 8 October, said Aarsleff chief divisional engineer Esben Linnet.
Installation of the transition pieces is expected to start in about one week, Linnet added.
Spanish company Navantia and compatriot Windar fabricated the four gravity-base jackets.
Four Siemens Gamesa 7MW turbines are due to be installed later in the year.
