Northland Power Europe has extended a charter for the wind farm service vessel WINDEA six from Ems Maritime Offshore for a further five years.
The Canadian developer has used the company’s vessels since 2016 in order to transport service technicians and freight the Nordsee 1 offshore wind farm, which lies 40km north of Juist off Germany.
The catamaran WINDEA six is 27.5 metres long and equipped with a hydrojet propulsion system. This service vessel can reach a speed of up to 32 knots and is capable of transporting 24 technicians and 30 tonnes of freight.
“The extension of the charter contract…is the result of our outstanding teamwork over the last few years. As local service providers, we are very proud to be able to continue our cooperation with the team from Northland Power,” said Jan Heyenga, Head of Maritime Services at EMO.
“We will continue to rely on this partner who has already faithfully supported us for several years now in the comprehensive management of the wind farm Nordsee 1 by Northland Power,” added Florian Würtz, Managing Director of Northland Power Europe.
