The Polish authorities have awarded the EDPR and Engie joint venture Ocean Winds an initial 25-year Contract for Difference (CfD) for the over 369MW B and C Wind offshore developments off Poland.
Ocean Winds said the CfD issued by the Polish Energy Regulatory Office is a “key milestone” bringing the final investment decision on the 369.5MW projects closer.
B and C Wind are located in the Polish Baltic Sea, approximately 23km offshore.
They will cover an area of 90 square km in water depths varying from 30 to 60 metres.
Ocean Winds said the CfD strike price is set at PLN319.60 (€71) a megawatt-hour in accordance with the ordinance of the Ministry of Climate and Environment in Poland and the law on promoting electricity production in offshore wind farms.
The CfD is subject to review and final approval by the European Commission and Polish authorities.
Poland has now awarded initial CfDs to all the first phase projects totalling about 5.9GW that submitted applications in March this year.
