Oceantic Network said clean energy won support in gubernatorial races in New Jersey and Virginia.
The organisation said both states have established offshore wind supply chains, development targets and previous administration backing.
Oceantic Network chief executive Liz Burdock said: “Energy was on the ballot today, and voters overwhelmingly supported clean energy policies that embrace all forms of generation, including offshore wind. On behalf of the more than 600 companies seeking offshore wind development work in New Jersey, Oceantic Network congratulates Mikie Sherrill on her successful campaign for governor.”
Burdock added: “This 40-state American energy industry is proving itself, lifting up communities across the United States by delivering good-paying jobs and local investment, and combatting rising energy costs. Oceantic looks forward to working with Governor-elect Sherrill to lower electricity bills for residents, advance New Jersey’s economy, and harness the significant in-state manufacturing, port, and workforce investments already made for the buildout of more domestic energy.”
Burdock said: “Energy was on the ballot today, and voters overwhelmingly supported clean energy policies, including offshore wind. On behalf of the 364 companies registered for offshore wind supply chain work in Virginia, Oceantic Network congratulates Abigail Spanberger on her successful campaign for governor.”
She added: “Driving more than $1.6 billion in local investments, Virginia’s offshore wind sector is lifting up Hampton Roads communities by delivering good-paying jobs, increased economic activity, and reliable, affordable energy for residents in the heart of Data Center Alley. Oceantic looks forward to working with Governor-elect Spanberger to advance Virginia’s offshore wind economy, harnessing the significant manufacturing, port, and workforce investments for the buildout of more domestic energy, and lowering energy bills with the completion of the largest offshore wind project under construction in the U.S. today.”
Oceantic said there are 82 New Jersey companies fulfilling 218 contracts for the national offshore wind industry and 694 businesses registered to participate in offshore wind development with a New Jersey footprint, including 603 headquartered in the state.
The organisation added there are 62 Virginia companies fulfilling contracts and 364 businesses registered to participate in offshore wind development with a Virginia location, including 295 headquartered in the state.
