UK-based vessel designer Chartwell Marine is adding to its team and making investments to expand operations in response to demand in growth markets, such as offshore wind.
Two new permanent staff are joining the company’s seven-strong specialist design team, while naval architect Bob Cripps has been appointed as a non-executive director.
Chartwell is also investing in a new Southampton headquarters at Deacons Boat Yard, Bursledon.
The company said its expanding team will use the new HQ as a hub for serving clients across Europe, the US and Asia.
It is also making significant investment in software and training for all members of the team.
Chartwell Marine managing director Andy Page said: “Chartwell Marine has seen rapid expansion over the past 18 months, and we feel that this success reflects the strength of the UK maritime supply chain and ability to export designs to a number of international growth markets.
“It’s fantastic to continue the strong naval architecture tradition in Southampton and to support the development of Chartwell’s staff whilst also responding to local and global design challenges.”
Cripps said: “I am excited to be advising a team that is quickly establishing a strong reputation and track record in vessel design, using its expertise to pioneer innovative new hulls.
“In the UK, Chartwell Marine is at the forefront at low emission technology and will continue to set higher industry standards to reduce the industry’s carbon footprint.”
