Onshore construction work is underway for the 589MW Changfang and Xidao offshore wind farms off Taiwan.
General contractor on the project’s onshore works Teco Electric & Machinery said ground has been broken in Lugang township in Changhua County.
The work will include transformer and booster stations, as well as other related facilities, for the two wind farms, Teco said.
Teco is working with Pacific Engineers & Constructors on the onshore engineering works, which includes design, civil works, electric machinery and power lines.
Changfang and Xidao chief development officer Hsu Nai-wen said: “First item of the onshore engineering works for Changfang and Xidao wind farm projects will be transformation stations, which be built on a very high localisation basis.”
Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners is developing Changfang and Xidao, with minority stakes in the projects also held by local life insurance companies Taiwan Life Insurance and TransGlobe Life Insurance.
MHI Vestas is supplying the turbines for the projects.
