All landfall horizontal directional drilling (HDD) ducts have now been successfully installed at Orsted’s 920MW Greater Changhua 2b and 4 wind farm in Taiwan.
The HDD ducts are conduits for connecting subsea cables to shore, ensuring a smooth transition from offshore to onshore infrastructure. They do so without disturbing the surface environment, thereby minimising ecological impact, and providing a secure installation path.

Despite initial external obstacles, the nodes were in place well ahead of schedule and mark a significant achievement for the Orsted project team and its partners, said the Danish developer.
When complete, Greater Changhua 2b and 4 will be able to power one million homes in Taiwan.
