Orsted has announced that all suction bucket jacket foundations have now been installed at the Greater Changhua 2b offshore wind farm in Taiwan.
Since installing the first foundation at the 337.1MW project in early April, Orsted had completed the installation of 24 of the structures ahead of schedule in just over a month.
Offshore construction for the Greater Changhua 2b and 4 offshore wind farms kicked off in February.
The installation of the suction bucket jacket foundations was carried out by a heavy-lift vessel from Heerema Marine Contractors.
Each foundation was installed using suction bucket technology, which requires no piling and allows the structure to be firmly anchored to the seabed.
This installation method significantly reduces the noise impact on the marine environment, Orsted said.
It added that foundation installation at the Greater Changhua 4 Offshore Wind Farm is also progressing.
The developer said: “We’ll continue to make the most of the favourable weather windows and push forward with full momentum!”
