Orsted’s offshore wind farms will provide clean electricity for the UK processing facilities of industrial gas producer Air Products.
Orsted generates renewable electricity from 11 offshore wind farms in the UK, providing Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin (REGOs) to support business electricity contracts.
The deal enables the industrial gas supplier to improve the sustainability credentials of its UK locations with merchant customers.
Under its arrangement with Orsted Air Products can provide customers with REGOs, proving its electricity supply for gas processing comes from renewable sources.
Air Products industrial gases production and supply chain director for Europe and Africa Simon Earnshaw said: “Being able to access and buy renewable electricity supplies direct from a certified provider is significant progress towards improving our merchant operations’ sustainability.”
According to Air Products, the contract also supports its membership within RECS International, a pan-European association of market players trading in renewable energy certificates, with almost 150 member companies.
