Danish energy giant Orsted has signed a five-year framework agreement with South Korean cabling company LS Cable & System for the supply of high voltage export wires for offshore wind farms.
LS Cable & System said it has previously supplied cables for the Hornsea 1 and 2 projects in the UK and has also been contracted to supply the subsea wires for the Greater Changhua 1&2a development in Taiwan.
Orsted Asia-Pacific president Matthias Bausenwein said: “The offshore wind market is growing fast, particularly in Asia Pacific.
“Orsted as the global market leader needs strong, reliable and competitive suppliers.
“Therefore, we are very happy to have further strengthened our partnership with LS C&S.”
LS Cable & System president and chief executive Roe-hyun Myung said: “The trend of investing in renewable energy will continue, even under the current Covid-19 situation.
“We are delighted to continue this cooperation with the leading company in offshore wind energy.”
