Outer Dowsing Offshore Wind has submitted an application to the UK government’s Planning Inspectorate for a Development Consent Order (DCO) for the 1500MW project.
The Planning Inspectorate now has 28 days to decide if the application will be accepted for examination.
Outer Dowsing, located 54km off the Lincolnshire coast, is being developed by TotalEnergies, Corio Generation and Gulf Energy Development.
The DCO application comprises an offshore wind farm comprising up to 100 turbines, underground cables to carry the power from the landfall site close to Anderby Marsh, and a new onshore substation at Surfleet Marsh.
The project will then connect into existing National Grid overhead transmission lines in the Weston Marsh area.
Multiple rounds of consultation have been held from November 2022 until earlier this year with nearly 1500 community members attending events.
Outer Dowsing Offshore Wind development director Chris Jenner said: “The UK needs to reduce reliance on energy imports while also reducing our emissions.
“This application is the culmination of many studies, surveys, community meetings and consultation events.
“We have taken on board feedback to design the project in the most environmentally sensitive way.”
If the DCO application is accepted by The Planning Inspectorate, the project will move to the examination stage.
A panel of independent inspectors will conduct the examination of the application and make a recommendation to the Secretary of State about whether the scheme should go ahead.
