Ocean Winds has chosen Crist Offshore to supply the offshore electrical substation for the up to 500MW BC-Wind project in Poland.
OW has signed an agreement with Crist for the design, construction and commissioning of the 2,000-tonne OSS for the wind project in the Baltic Sea.
According to OW, the deal marks a milestone as it is the first time that key offshore infrastructure will be delivered by a Polish company.
The deal will strengthen Poland’s offshore wind supply chain and secure more than 400 jobs in the Polish shipbuilding industry, OW said.
The OSS will be built in Gdynia and is set for completion in mid-2027.
It will play a central role in transmitting clean energy from the BC-Wind project, helping to power nearly half a million homes annually.
OW country manager in Poland Dan Finch said: “This is a historic moment for the entire Polish offshore wind sector.
“Cooperation with Crist Offshore confirms the readiness of Polish companies to implement technologically advanced projects and strengthens Poland’s position on the global renewable energy market.”
