Austrian deck equipment outfit Palfinger Marine has signed a contract to supply 81 lay-down boom (LDB) cranes for WPD’s 640MW Yunlin wind farm, off the coast of Taiwan.
The contract includes 80 PF12000-4.6 LDB cranes for each of the 8MW Siemens Gamesa turbines and an additional PF12000-4.6 LDB crane for training onshore.

Taiwan’s Formosa Heavy Industries and Germany’s Steelwind Nordenham will supply 80 monopile foundations for the project.
Turbine construction is set to begin in 2019 and foundation installation-by Malaysia’s Sapura Energy-in March 2020, with the project coming online in December 2021.
