Public consultation is underway in France on plans to upgrade the port of Saint-Quay-Portrieux, which is proposed as the maintenance base for Ailes Marines’ 496MW Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm.
The plans detail the activities linked to offshore wind that would be carried out in the harbour, including the sites for dedicated storage areas for components.
Comments can be submitted until 17 June.
The local town council will then provide an assessment of the changes and make a final decision on the plans by mid-July.
Iberdrola-led Ailes Marines, which also comprises RES and la Caisse des Depots et Consignations, declined to give specific details of the upgrades or how much they will cost.
Saint-Brieuc will feature 62 Siemens Gamesa 8.0-167 turbines, located between 16km and 33km off the French coast in the English Channel.
The consortium currently aims to commission the project in 2023, but that schedule could slip due to several ongoing legal appeals.
