RWE’s Rampion Offshore Wind Farm has been named operational Offshore Wind Project of the Year, while Moray West Offshore Wind Farm, owned by OW Ocean Winds and Ignitis Group, won the award for non-operational project.
The projects were amongst the winners at RenewableUK’s Global Offshore Wind Awards 2024, featuring guest speaker Ed Miliband, Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero.
Thirteen main awards were announced, alongside an outstanding contribution award.
The Offshore Wind Health, Safety and Well-Being Award was awarded to the Just Safe Event by Siemens Gamesa Renewables Energy.
The Offshore Wind Energy Skills Award went to Destination Renewables by EDF Renewables UK.
Proserv picked up the Supply Chain Innovation of the Year, for introducing a whole new concept to the offshore wind supply chain.
The Future Leader Award then went to Kirsty Adams of BlueFloat Energy | Nadara Partnership for displaying exceptional leadership in the industry.
The Aspiring Leader Award had two winners Lynsey Shovlin and Hannah Chrisp, both of EDF Renewables UK and Ireland, who were judged to have demonstrated key leadership qualities and the potential to become future leaders in the industry.
The Unsung Hero Award, highlighting unacknowledged achievements in the industry, then went to Declan Clarke, field engineer at Triton Knoll, RWE.
The Outstanding Achievement Award went to Clark MacFarlane, Siemens Gamesa, recognising the decades of hard work and progress he has brought to the industry.
Forth Ports Limited – Forth Projects won the Supply Chain Impact Award in recognition of an outstanding project for the Scottish and UK’s supply chain.
The Offshore Wind Gamechanger category was awarded to Princess Elisabeth Energy Island by Elia Group, the world’s first artificial energy island.
The award for Equity and Inclusivity was then awarded to Sophie Ash, Gwynt y Mor Offshore Wind Project for her work advancing equality and inclusion regarding PPE for women the in the offshore wind sector.
The next category was the Offshore Wind Collaboration Award, which had two winners, Gillian Morrison of Crown Estate Scotland and Joint Offshore Wind and Air Defence Programme for the Air Defence and Offshore Wind Joint Task Force.
The Environment and Sustainability Award, went to Gwynt Glas: Collaborative Reef Cube installation in recognition of its key innovations in preserving maritime biodiversity.
RenewableUK’s chief executive Dan McGrail congratulated the winners, said: “It’s been fantastic to host the Global Offshore Wind Awards here in London for the third year in a row.
“I’d like to congratulate all this year’s winners, runners-up and nominees, we had a record number of entries, with strong competition showing the scale of talent in the industry, reflecting the diversity of skill and high calibre of everyone involved.
“The last year has been an important time for the offshore wind sector both in the UK and globally. As we look forward to the future, I’m sure our exceptional candidates will move the industry from strength to strength.”
