Orsted has supplied electricity to the mainland grid for the first time from its 450MW Borkum Riffgrund 2 offshore wind farm in the German North Sea.
The Danish developer said first power from the MHI Vestas 8MW turbines was delivered on 4 August.
Borkum Riffgrund 2 will comprise 56 machines in total, with installation expected to be completed in the third quarter of this year.
Fred Olsen Windcarrier jack-up vessel Bold Tern is on the job.
The project features 20 suction bucket jacket foundations and 36 monopiles.
Full commissioning is scheduled for 2019.
