Kalypso Offshore Energy has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with Royal IHC to build a Jones Act-compliant cable lay vessel for the US offshore wind market.
The collaboration between Kalypso and Royal IHC, a maritime technology company, marks a “significant advancement” in the US wind supply chain by filling a key gap in the nation’s vessel capabilities.
This partnership aims to domestically produce a 5000-ton CLV.
Kalypso’s cable lay vessel has been designed to meet Jones Act compliance standards, ensuring adherence to US legislation for domestic maritime trade.
This new vessel will offer safe, versatile and efficient cable lay services including installation, repair and maintenance capabilities.
