Vattenfall has almost completed the installation of the 72 foundations for its 288MW Sandbank offshore wind farm in the North Sea.
The company said 69 monopiles and transition pieces have been installed and installation of the 4MW turbines is in on schedule to start in the summer.
A hydro sound damper was used to reduce underwater noise while installing the foundations. It consists of a net with plastic components.
A ‘bubble curtain’ (pictured) was also used during hammering, Vattenfall said.
The wind farm is still on schedule despite tough weather conditions in November and December prohibiting offshore work for most of the two months.
Vattenfall added the cable work has started with two lines of cables having been put in place.
The substation has been assembled and will be installed in the spring.
