Crown Estate Scotland is seeking assurances from the winners in the ScotWind offshore wind leasing round that they are not involved in trade and investment activity with Russia.
It said that in early March an initial check of applicants was carried out for Russian ownership and/or registration, which did not uncover any Russian ownership or registration.
“We have now taken the further step of seeking formal, written assurance from all applicants and project partners involved in each of the 17 applications that they will adhere at all times to the relevant sanctions regime,” Crown Estate Scotland said.
“If we do not receive sufficient assurance, we will take appropriate action,” it added.
Crown Estate Scotland said that all applicants that secure an option agreement will be required to adhere to relevant sanctions throughout the term of the agreement.
“In addition, we have also asked for details of any Russian or Belarussian interests and steps that are being taken to divest of those interests,” the Scottish seabed manager said.
“We continue to work closely with Scottish government to ensure we are fully informed and taking appropriate action in what is a rapidly evolving situation,” it added.
