OX2 wraps up 42MW Brannliden in Sweden

OX2 has bought the 40MW Salo-Ylikoski wind farm in Finland from Tuuliveikot, in a deal that also includes project rights for the construction of seven wind farms.

Salo-Ylikoski will comprise turbines with total heights of 220 metres.

OX2 will begin wind measurements in the project area and will also begin construction planning this spring.

Construction will start during 2023.

The project area is located near the border between Kauhava and Pedersore, about 30km north of the centre of Kauhava.

No details of the price of the deal were disclosed.

OX2 Finland country manager Teemu Loikkanen said: “Domestic energy production is more important to us now than ever before.

“One of the strengths of wind power is that it takes an average of one to two years to build a project. In this way, new capacity is put into production fairly quickly.

“It is hoped that Kauhava will be able to build the project as early as next year.”

Tuuliveikko chief executive Osmo Kokko said: “We started developing the project eight years ago and it feels good that it will now be transferred to a skilled implementer and the project will finally be completed.”

Project manager Valtteri Paunonen said: “We have just handed over the completed Kröpuln and Storbacken wind farms in the neighboring municipalities of Uusikaarlepyy and Voyri, so we are familiar with the area.

“It is great to be able to implement wind power on the Kauhava side now as well.”
