Seajacks has secured a conditional deal from Siemens Gamesa to transport and install turbines at the 378MW Formosa 2 offshore wind farm off Taiwan.
The vessel operator will deploy jack-up Seajacks Scylla to put in the 47 8MW turbines at the project.
Installation is due to take place in summer 2021.
A final contract is subject to Siemens Gamesa receiving a firm order from developers Macquarie Capital and Swancor Renewable Energy.
Scylla will join stablemate Seajacks Zaratan, which is already in Taiwan installing Siemens Gamesa 6MW turbines at the Formosa 1 phase 2 project.
Seajacks chief operating officer Sebastien Brooke said the latest deal highlights the company’s commitment to the development of offshore wind in Taiwan and the wider Asia Pacific region.
“We will use the significant experience gained by Seajacks in Europe and at Formosa 1 Phase 2, to ensure that this project is delivered to the stakeholders as efficiently and effectively as possible,” he said.
“Formosa 2 is an exciting and important project for Seajacks and we would like to thank our valued client, Siemens Gamesa, for once again putting their trust in our people and equipment.”
