Nine of the 18 nacelles for Senvion 6.2M 126 turbines for the 111MW Nordergrunde offshore wind farm have arrived at the Bremerhaven container terminal in Germany.
Each 340-tonne nacelle was transported from Senvion’s factory in Labradorhafen via pontoon to the Nordhafen and then moved to terminal, said Eurogate, which together with sub-contractor BLG is carrying out all the nearshore logistics for the project.
The first nacelles were loaded and discharged via roll on roll off onto the special pontoon Offshore Bhv 1 using two self-propelled modular transporters with 12 axes, Eurogate said.
The use of the transporters eliminated the need for expensive large cranes and simplified the logistics process, it said.
The remaining nine nacelles are scheduled to be transported from the factory to the base port between the end of July and the beginning of August.
Once all the nacelles have arrived, preparations will be made for loading them onto the wind turbine installation vessel MPI Enterprise, Eurogate said.
WPD, Gothaer Leben Renewables, the European Investment Bank and KfW IPEX Bank are investors in the €410m project.
