Shell’s UK offshore wind boss Melissa Read is to leave the company.
Read departs after four years heading up the oil major’s offshore wind efforts in the UK and Ireland. She was behind successful ScotWind bids and was also responsible for business development and new opportunities.
Her departure comes in addition to Shell’s executive vice president of global renewable generation Thomas Brostrom, who is also leaving the company, a spokesperson confirmed.
The ex-Orsted man has been with Shell for two years since leaving the Danish giant where he headed up the US offshore unit.
Shell has over 2.2GW of offshore wind capacity in operation and under construction as well as 9.2GW in the pipeline for potential projects across North America, Europe, the UK and Asia.
However, there has been speculation in recent months the company is assessing its green energy strategy after signalling it was ditching plans to cut oil production.
