Siem Offshore Contractors has won the turnkey supplier and installation contract for inner-array cables at Trianel’s 203MW Borkum West 2.2 offshore wind farm in the German North Sea.
The work will involve installing 36 33kV submarine composite cables with a total length of up to 61km, Siem said.
In addition, the company will also provide associated materials and services, including cable protection systems, post-installation termination, trenching and testing services.
The project will consist of 32 Senvion 6.2M152 turbines with a power upgrade to 6.33MW each.
Project engineering works will commence immediately, while marine installation works are currently scheduled to be undertaken in the third quarter of 2018.
However, the project is still subject to a project final investment decision, which is expected to be taken in the second quarter of 2017.
