Siem Offshore Contractors has won a contract to transport and install part of the inner-array cables at Dong Energy’s 1.2GW Hornsea 1 offshore wind farm, which will be located off the UK east coast.
The work includes the installation of 81 33kV submarine medium voltage alternating current cables, as well as the associated post-lay trenching works.
The company said it will use vessels and resources from the Siem Offshore group for the job.
Project engineering works will start immediately, with marine installation currently scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2018, Siem said.
Earlier this month, JDR was awarded the contract to supply subsea power cables covering two thirds of the total wind farm capacity.
It will also provide terminations, hang-off arrangements, additional accessories and services at the site.
Boskalis is to transport and install foundations for the project, which will feature 174 Siemens 7MW wind turbines to be installed by A2Sea and Fred Olsen from spring 2019.
