Siemens Gamesa has secured a full type certificate from TÜV NORD for its 11MW offshore wind turbine (pictured).
The manufacturer said the milestone has come a year ahead of schedule.

Siemens Gamesa added approval was not only a verification of the turbine design, but also of the step by step development process.
Senior product manager Rasmus Haugaard said: “This is really a demonstration of how great technology and a true collaboration spirit within our development team can bring amazing results.”
With a 200 metre diameter rotor, the turbine is due for serial production in 2022.
In February 2021, Siemens Gamesa and CrossWind signed a contract for the delivery of 69 of the turbines for the 759MW Hollandse Kust Noord offshore wind project.
