Siemens Gamesa has begun the installation of its 14MW turbine prototype in Denmark.
The SG 14-222 DD prototype is being erected in Oesterild.
The tower was built last week, the company said.
The 222-metre diameter rotor uses Siemens Gamesa’s new B108 blades.
Each 108-metre IntegralBlade is cast in one piece using patented Siemens Gamesa blade technologies.
The B108 blade has come off the assembly line in February of this year.
Siemens Gamesa has secured orders for the 14MW turbines for offshore wind projects in the US and in the Asia-Pacific.
Dominion placed an order for the machine for its 2640MW Dominion Energy Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) commercial project, which is expected to be completed in 2026.
The agreement is subject to certain conditions including Dominion Energy’s final investment decision, governmental permitting, and other required approvals, Siemens Gamesa said.
Siemens Gamesa has also been lined up to deliver it’s the 14MW turbine for the 300MW Hai Long 2 offshore wind farm off Taiwan.
