Siemens Gamesa has achieved first power from its 15MW offshore wind turbine prototype at the Oesterild test site in Denmark.
The SG 14-236 DD prototype has a 236-metre diameter rotor and will provide an increase of more than 30% in annual energy production (AEP) compared to its predecessor.

The prototype will now undergo testing and validation before its deployment in the market.
This model has already lined up Siemens Gamesa up as a preferred supplier for projects totalling almost 2.8GW in Denmark and Poland.
