Siemens has awarded UK company A&P Group a contract to provide a blade rack for the transport of turbine components to the 402MW Veja Mate offshore wind farm in the German North Sea.
The value of the deal is anticipated to be up to £1m over its term, the German company said.
The rack will be re-used in a UK project, the 330MW Walney 2 East offshore wind farm in the Irish Sea.
“This is a significant step for the provision of UK-content,” Siemens project procurement manager Christoph Schott said. “It marks a starting point where Siemens is able to begin exporting from the industry that has been created in the UK, beginning with Greenport Hull.”
Siemens will supply 67 6MW turbines for Veja Mate. Project shareholders include Siemens Financial Services and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners alongside Highland. The wind farm is expected to be fully operational in 2018.
