Sif Group has won a contract to fabricate legs, bracings, pile sleeves and pin piles for TenneT’s 900MW BorWin 3 offshore wind grid connection system.
The Dutch fabricator said the total volume of the tubulars amounts to around 8.6 kilotonnes.
Production will crank into gear in Q4 this year and in the early part of 2017, it added.
The so-called Gamma substation platform is being built by Heerema and will feature a Siemens HVDC topside.
Petrofac is handling construction and installation of the planned offshore platform some 130km off the German coast.
BorWin 3 is expected to be fully commissioned in the third quarter of 2019 and will connect the 500MW Hohe See and 400MW Global Tech 1 wind farms to the grid.
