SK Eco Plant has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to manufacture, transport, and install the substructure (floating body) of Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners’ 1500MW floating offshore wind project in Ulsan, South Korea.
SK Eco Plant plans to create synergy by transporting and installing the substructure for the Haeuli Offshore Wind Power Project, which will be manufactured by its subsidiary SK Ocean Plant.
SK Ocean Plant is building a new production base specializing in the production of floating bodies, expanding production capacity for all offshore wind power structures, including jackets and floaters.
With this agreement, SK Eco Plant and SK Ocean Plant promised mutual cooperation and support for the success of the ‘Haeul Project.’
SK Eco Plant plans to share know-how in the transportation and installation of floating bodies and support supply chain optimization measures based on its experience in various marine construction and engineering projects at home and abroad.
SK Ocean Plant will strengthen cooperation in the field of floating body manufacturing based on its offshore wind structure manufacturing technology and supply capabilities recognized in the global market.
Seung-cheol Lee, chief executive of SK Ocean Plant, said: “The domestic and overseas floating offshore wind power market is expected to expand significantly after 2027 when the new production base is completed.
“Based on a solid partnership with Haeul Lee Offshore Wind Power, the existing fixed lower part is expected to expand significantly.
“We will strive to become a global leader not only in the structures but also in the floating body market.”
