Uniper and Polish project developer WAP Energia have entered into a development partnership for an onshore wind power portfolio in Poland.
The partnership includes six separate onshore wind power projects in the early stages of development with a targeted total capacity of up to 600MW.
Uniper will have full control over the development progress and costs of these projects.
The projects are located in western Poland and contribute to Uniper’s goal of developing 10GW of renewable energy generation projects to construction by 2030.
Jörg Lennertz, chief executive at Uniper Renewables, said: “Uniper’s strategy aims to drive the transformation of the energy industry through flexible, balanced and tailored forms of energy generation.
“To this end, the company is converting its own power plants and facilities and investing in flexible and safe power generation plants.
“A total of around €8bn is to be invested in green growth and transformation between 2023 and 2030. This also includes investments in solar and wind power plants, where significant growth is targeted.
“In 2030, Uniper plans to use more than 80% of its installed power plant capacity for CO2-free power generation.”
In total, Uniper plans to develop ten GW of onshore wind and solar photovoltaic plants in the most important European markets, including Germany, France, the UK, Italy, Sweden, Hungary and Poland, by 2030 to construction readiness.
In addition, Uniper intends to bring 3GW of renewable energies to investment maturity by 2025.
