UK company Specialist Marine Consultants has won a deal to provide marine coordination services to Siemens Gamesa at Orsted’s 1.2GW Hornsea 1 wind farm off east England.
SMC will work with the German-Spanish manufacturer during installation of 174 7MW turbines at the project.
The contracts cements a long-running relationship between both companies, said SMC.
Siemens Gamesa operations manager Stefan Mougard said: “We are – once again – making the world’s largest offshore wind farm, and once again with SMC.
“Last time we teamed up for beating records was in 2018 at the Walney extension wind farm, which was a tremendous success, and we look forward to a similar lean and efficient operation of our assets offshore on this great project.”
SMC operations manager Steve Evans added: “We are extremely pleased to continue our work with Siemens Gamesa on what is yet another flagship endeavour for both companies.”
