Siemens Gamesa has signed a €69m contract to supply 15 turbines to Bosnian utility Elektroprivreda BiH’s 48MW Podvelezje wind farm near the south-western city of Mostar.
The German-Spanish manufacturer will deliver, install, test and commission the units under the deal for what is said to be the country’s first wind project.
The turbine model was not disclosed.
Construction is expected to take under two years with a five-year service agreement also part of the contract.
Initial enabling works, including sites roads on the Podvelezje plateau, have been completed.
German development bank KfW has provided finance for the build alongside cash from Elektroprivreda BiH.
Christian Sedat, charge d’affaires of the German embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, said: “Podveležje is not only the first wind farm of Elektroprivreda BiH, but it is also one of the first in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“The Federal Government of Germany and KfW are proud to fund and advise this pioneering project.”
