Spanish company X1 Wind and its partners have completed the design of the PivotBuoy floating wind system, which is now ready for manufacturing.
During a recent meeting at X1’s offices in Barcelona, in Spain, experts from the project consortium’s partners came together to review the detailed design of the PivotBuoy system, to provide ‘formal approval’ so the design can be produced.

The PivotBuoy system, once assembled, will be installed in Autumn 2020 as a part-scale platform with a Vestas V29 turbine in a downwind configuration. The floater will be grid connected to the PLOCAN test site in the Canary Islands.
The design phase took 10 months to complete.
