Van Oord heavy lift vessel Svanen has arrived at the site of Vattenfall’s 605MW Kriegers Flak offshore wind farm off Denmark to start foundation installation.
The 72 monopiles will be transported from Rostock in Germany to the site, while transition pieces will come on barges from Aalborg, Denmark.
A mitigation system will be used to reduce the underwater noise resulting from offshore pile driving, Van Oord said.
The company’s subsea rock installation vessel Bravenes started installation of the seabed protection in April.
EEW fabricated the monopiles at its Rostock plant, while Bladt Industries manufactured the TPs in Aalborg.
Kriegers Flak is located 15 to 40km from the Danish coast and is scheduled to be fully operational in 2021.
