Van Oord has secured a contract to install 72 monopiles and transition pieces for Vattenfall at the over 600MW Kriegers Flak wind farm off the coast of Denmark.
Heavy lift vessel Svanen (pictured) will carry out the work.
The monopiles will be floated from Rostock, Germany, to the project site, while the transition pieces will be transported on barges from Aalborg in Denmark.
Van Oord offshore wind director Arnoud Kuis said: “Creating a sustainable energy system is one of the key challenges of this time.
“Van Oord wants to lead this development in offshore wind. With the construction of the Kriegers Flak offshore wind farm we make another significant contribution towards these goals.”
EEW Special Pipe Constructions will fabricate 72 monopile foundations.
