The Taiwan government has published the final rules for the 15GW Round 3 phase of offshore wind development.
The Ministry of Economic Affairs is planning three auctions with would-be bidders to face a performance ability review and competitive process.
Project must have preliminary approval of environmental assessments to take part with developers limited to 500MW bids.
Officials have also ditched a plan to use Taipower’s so-called ‘avoidance cost’ as the bid cap, with a new upper limit of NT$2.49 per kilowatt-hour (€0.08/KWh).
The MOEA has also retained a number of local content rules for projects.
The announcement brings to a close months of negotiations for the new phase of development off the Asian island.
The country has already held two auction rounds with around 5GW of projects expected online by the middle of the decade.
