Technip vessel Deep Explorer has arrived in the Buchan Deep off Scotland to begin installation of suction anchors for Statoil’s 30MW Hywind Scotland floating offshore project.
Three anchors will be installed for each of the project’s five Siemens 6MW turbines and will be linked to the floating foundations via mooring chains.
Installation is expected to take a number of weeks and marks the start of the project’s offshore construction campaign that is due to last into the summer.
The wind farm is due to be commissioned by the end of the year.
