TenneT has awarded technical consultancy Fichtner and SeaRenergy Offshore Holding a contract to carry out design reviews for the BorWin5 offshore converter platform.
The scope spans checking, commenting on and approving designs and documents in relation to the high voltage direct current (HVDC) platform.
BorWin5 will connect the 900MW offshore wind farm He Dreiht to the German mainland via 230 km of subsea and land cables.
Fichtner will lead the consortium and take responsibility for secondary technology and safety-related topics within the platform support team, including conceptual consultancy services.
SeaRenergy will be responsible for all structural, steelwork and other issues such as feasibility supervision of the transport and installation concept.
The two companies have already worked together as a consortium for TenneT in 2015 and 2017.
