Tokyo Gas Engineering Solutions (TGES) and IX Renewables have signed a basic agreement to collaborate on offshore wind power generation projects.
TGES said the agreement combines IX Renewables’ offshore wind expertise with TGES’s knowledge of energy infrastructure engineering and Japanese regulations.
The companies added that they aim to jointly win orders for engineering services and project management for offshore wind projects.
The collaboration will focus on areas including EPCI management, engineering, financial advisory and operations and maintenance strategy consulting.
IX Renewables has operated an offshore wind consulting business in the Netherlands since 2006, providing project solutions integrating technical, commercial and legal expertise to developers and investors worldwide.
TGES has provided owner’s engineering, construction and maintenance services for energy infrastructure such as LNG terminals, pipelines and district heating and cooling plants in Japan and overseas for more than 50 years.
“Japan’s offshore wind market is at a critical juncture, and by combining IX’s international wind power experience with TGES’ strong engineering foundation and deep knowledge of the Japanese market, we aim to provide high-quality, reliable solutions to offshore wind operators and investors,” said Eric Kamphues, president of IX Renewables.
“Offshore wind power plays a major role in Japan’s decarbonization,” said Yasuhiro Konishi, president and CEO of Tokyo Gas Engineering Solutions.
