Tokyo Gas and Danish utility company EWII have acquired two onshore wind power projects in Finland.
The projects developed by Finnish renewable energy company Puhuri were acquired through TOWII Renewables, a joint venture between EWII and TG Nordic, a wholly owned subsidiary of Tokyo Gas.
Finland is expected to further increase renewable energy capacity to achieve a target of 51% share of renewable energy in final energy consumption by 2030.
The two wind farms, currently under development in the city of Raahe in North Ostrobothnia, are the Kopsa 3 and Ketunperä projects.
A total of 12 wind turbines with a combined generation capacity of 74.4MW will be installed, and commercial operations are scheduled to commence in the first half of 2027.
The acquisition marks TOWII Renewables’ first investment in renewable projects beyond Danish borders.
Tokyo Gas Group is committed to achieving net-zero emissions and has pledged to continue to contribute to local communities by strengthening partnerships with business partners and developing renewable energy sources.
