Tractebel subsidiary Lahmeyer International has acquired German engineering company Overdick to help grow business in the offshore wind industry.
Overdick is based in Hamburg and provides offshore engineering and design, maintenance and inspection services.
“Tractebel will benefit from Overdick’s deep know-how in detailed design, construction, transportation and installation of wind turbine and offshore high voltage substation foundations,” Tractebel said.
Tractebel chief executive Olivier Biancarelli said: “With the acquisition of Overdick as a strong and experienced company in detailed engineering, Tractebel will participate in the growing offshore wind market, which will reach an installed capacity of more than 100GW in 2030.”
Lahmeyer chief executive Martin Seeger said: “With Overdick, we have brought a traditional company with a high reputation into our company, with which we will continue to grow in the coming years.”
Overdick managing director Andreas Rosponi: “We have intensively worked to realise this M&A project. Bringing in an independent offshore engineering firm like Overdick will be a great step forward for the growth potential of Tractebel and will offer to the clients a wider portfolio of services. The pool of skills has increased manifolds overnight and we are all looking forward to put it to work together.”
Completion of the transaction is expected to take place at the end of September.
